In the mid 1970s, Karen Blair was training to be a loan manager in a bank. With four children at home, it became apparent that she needed more flexible hours. Her brother, a vice president for a large life insurance company, began to tell her about the opportunities available in the insurance industry where she would be free to set her own hours. In 1978 Karen started her insurance career at an all woman insurance agency in Lakewood, Ohio. For several years, she wrote property, casualty, and life insurance coverage. Wanting to provide her clients with better service coupled with a greater level of personal attention, Karen founded Blair Financial Services, Inc in Elyria, OH in 1993. We visited with Karen recently, and listened as she provided this overview of Blair Financial Services' offerings;

Blair Financial Services, Inc. is a full-service agency serving the insurance needs of both businesses and individuals. I offer a wide array of insurance products, including health, life, disability, annuities, and retirement plans. Property and casualty insurance is placed through a local agency. My primary focus, however, is working with companies to provide their employees with group health insurance at competitive rates.

As an independent agent, I feel I am working for my clients and not for the insurance company. I can provide tailor-made insurance packages and have a variety of companies and policies from which to choose. My services include going directly to the company to meet with their employees to explain the details of their plan and answer any questions they may have about their coverage.
