Dennis W. Carter, L.F.D. is a third generation Funeral Director. His grandfather, Jesse F. Carter, Sr. owned a funeral home in West Point, Mississippi, and his father, Clarence Carter, Sr., moved to Northeast Ohio where he founded Carter Funeral Home in Lorain in 1968 and a second funeral home in Elyria in 1971. His son, Dennis, began working with his father when only in eighth grade and became a Licensed Funeral Director himself in the 1980s. We met with Dennis recently, and listened as he provided this overview of Carter Funeral Home's offerings;
Carter Funeral Home is a full-service funeral home offering a wide range of funeral arrangements and plans. From tradition funeral services to cremation services and after care services, we provide families with professionalism, dignity, and compassion during their time of need. We are committed to providing the highest quality of care and service while maintaining respect for the deceased and privacy for their families.
At Carter Funeral Home, we are dedicated to meeting the needs of the families we serve by respecting their wishes as they relate to death and funeral services. We strive to help them find the most appropriate and economical way to memorialize the life of their loved one. Thoroughly familiar with funeral customs of all different faiths and cultures, we take pride in providing our families with the courteous service, compassion, and dignity that serve as the foundation of the funeral industry.
After the funeral service has concluded, we continue to remain in contact with the family providing comfort and after care services. We thank them for the confidence they have placed in us, and provide them with boxes of thank-you cards to send to those who signed the register book during visitation hours. We also have three ministers on staff who provide family members with grief counseling and help them deal with the overwhelming feelings that frequently accompany the loss of a loved one.
Today, more and more individuals are interested in pre-planning, which ensures that one's final wishes are carried out exactly as they prefer. Pre-planning is done in a comfortable, no stress environment, where one can discuss their preferences, determine the costs in advance, and make a more informed decision. Another advantage to pre-planning is that all funeral home costs have been pre-paid, locking in the cost so that no additional monies would ever be needed to perform this funeral service in the future. The money for all pre-paid funerals is placed in either a trust account or an insurance policy as required by law. Many of the pre-paid funerals we arrange are done by families of individuals who will be in need of Medicare/Medicaid assistance, and we take special care in advising them of their rights and options.
Carter Funeral Home has been serving Lorain County with compassion and dignity since 1968. For more information, please contact Carter Funeral Home and don't forget to tell them Elyria, Ohio Business & Living
